Myriad Dance in association with Dance Ireland is pleased to present this
highly successful dance programme. It will run for five days during the
Easter break and aims to support dancers and dance artists in the South
East Region by offering a platform to experiment, innovate, discuss, share
and exchange ideas.
The ethos of this initiative by Myriad Dance is to encourage and support
indigenous dancers in the southeast, improve the skills base and develop
experimentation and investigation into movement and choreographic practice.
This year the emphasis is on alternative practice in contemporary dance.
This is our 4th year running ‘Innerscapes’, which has grown
from strength to strength, particularly with the involvement of Dance
Ireland on last year’s programme. We are delighted to have 2 main
featured artists on this years programme; a very welcome repeat visit
by Wolfgang Hoffman (24th & 25th only) plus Niamh Condron
of This Torsion Dance Company who will showcase her Constant Compositional
technique along with release –based morning practice classes.
However, these workshops merely umbrella the week as the original idea
and ethos of ‘Innerscapes’ is to
encourage and support local indigenous dancers and artists in the southeast
to develop their ideas through experimentation and investigation.
To
this end, Myriad Dance wishes to offer 5 small but open
platforms for artists in the south east to experiment, innovate, discuss,
share and exchange ideas in whatever form they wish in the genre of movement
and dance utilising the participants on the week’s programme.
Participants will be familiar with the format from last year.
Workshop ideas can take the form of small concepts i.e. 1-hour session
with 10 dancers exploring body temperature to a 3-hour block on cellular
practice. Please note that these ideas are to be used as a springboard
towards choreographic practice and work. The five-day programme will also
host a series of workshops from several guest & emerging Irish based
artists.
The programme includes:

Niamh Condron
(Contact Composition Technique)
Open Dance Investigation Platform
