Currently developing experimental movement investigation and practices, Myriad has developed a reputation for producing flexible, exciting professional work in widely varying performance settings over a ten year period – theatre, outdoors, site-specific and adapted non-traditional spaces for audiences both regionally around Ireland and abroad.

The company has performed at the Dublin Fringe Festival (2005 and 2006) DanCelebration Festival, Arizona (2005 and 2006)
EigseCarlow Arts Festival (2004)
and will perform at Re-presenting Ireland, as part of the
International Dance Festival Ireland (2008).

Rooted firmly in their locality, Myriad Dance has a strong social engagement with the broader community providing professional training and development for emerging dance artists and movement-based artists in the southeast region. In conjunction with Dance Ireland it runs professional development initiatives like professional morning classes and platforms for investigation such as Innerscapes.

The company also has an outstanding record in its direction of several youth dance development initiatives in the southeast region and nationally, most notably, through its partnership in Pulse! Youth Dance Programme run in conjunction with the Arts Dept of Wexford County Council since 2001. The company also has a full dance residency programme/ workshops that co-exist alongside its company touring programme.

The artistic director of Myriad Dance, Deirdre Grant, is now developing strands that promote a deeper understanding of the body, ie somatics studies and cellular work and where the body is a resourceful intelligent and communicative tool both for movement investigation and presentation.

The methodologies from the above will be utilised within the company’s work over the next three years.
